If you are in, or expect to be in a DECLARED DISASTER AREA then we ask that you contact the IA-HLSEM Duty Officer at 515-725-3231 and request the Saw Strike Team through the State of Iowa. Any request should be preceded with a call to Shelby County EMA / 911 to initiate the activation sequence and get help coming as soon as possible. A Rapid Response Team can be in route to your location with in 1 hour, with the full team headed your way in 2 hours. |

Mission Statement
IA-HLSEM Disaster Assistance Saw Strike Team
| We are a Team comprised of 2 Divisions of Sawyers. Northern Division is based in Shelby County at Defiance Fire & Rescue. Southern Division is based in Pottawattamie County at Oakland Fire & Rescue. Saw Strike Team has a total of 22 Chain Saws ranging in size from MS880 42" Bar to an MS250 with a 18" Bar. Team Deploys a Skid Steer with Grapple Claw, Rhino ATV, three team vehicles all 4x4, and two trailers with support equipment to make the team self contained. Team deploys with power generation equipment and will not need electrical support. Team Leadership will interface with Local Incident command and follow Mission Tasking Orders, plus supplemental missions as added by Incident Commander. Team is managed and can deploy up to 45 members, however local Incident Command will have a single point of contact to talk with. |
