The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trains people in neighborhoods, the workplace, and schools in basic disaster response skills, such as fire suppression, urban search and rescue, and medical operations, and helps them take a more active role in emergency preparedness. We have a Shelby County CERT already formed. For more information, and how to join contact Jason A. Wickizer at 712-755-2124, or jwickizer@shco.org

2007 CERT/Explorer Graduates
|
Welcome all of our new CERT / Explorer members to the
Shelby County Response community. 12 new members
competed with busy schedules to complete 40 hours of
training in less than a month. As of Thursday night all will be
activated when the county has a need for assistance. CERT /
Explorers assist in events such as structure fires, car
accidents, rescue missions, and severe weather. Although
the CERT / Explorers do not enter the hazard area they are
able to free up other rescuers by assisting in a support
capacity. Many of the members pictured above are wanting
to actively pursue a career in Public Service.
