What is an Explorer???

An Explorer is a young adult between the ages of 14 (completed 8th grade), and 20 years old, who is interested in a
Public Safety Career.

Shelby County Public Safety Explorers are involved in Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, and 911 Telecommunication
operations throughout Shelby County.

Each member must commit to maintaining excellent attendance, and grades in school.   Explorers meet 1 time per
month for a business meeting, and must commit to one other training night during the month.

Explorers will also be utilized in a Disaster to assist in the County Emergency Operations Center, which will free up
Community Emergency Response Team members to assist Emergency Responders in the field.
